Caravaggio, Lena e Maddalena Antognetti. Una Storia da riscrivere
The article deals with the subject of Caravaggio’s models, discussing the book by Riccardo Bassani, La donna del Caravaggio, Vita e peripezie di Maddalena Antognetti (Donzelli 2021), in which he seeks to prove that Maddalena Antognetti knew the painter and that she was the model of many of Caravaggio’s paintings. According to the authors of this article the courtesan had no acquaintance with any of the important people close to the painter’s environment.
