An unknown portrait of Artemisia Gentileschi. The lawyer and writer Giacomo Pighetti from Bergamo
This article presents a previously unknown etching based on a lost portrait of the lawyer and writer Giacomo Pighetti painted by Artemisia Gentileschi. The portrait not only expands the painter’s previously known oeuvre, but also provides a further indication of her relationship with the art-interested Giacomo Pighetti. He belonged to a group of intellectuals that formed in Padua and Venice around the writer Giovanni Francesco Loredan, a circle in which Artemisia Gentileschi also moved.
