Federico Zuccari e Raffaello, “frà gli eccellenti eccellente”
An internationally renowned painter, Principe of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, Federico Zuccari elected Raphael as an ideal of perfection of early-Cinquecento painting. The study of the Urbinate’s work, discussed in this paper through the illustration of a hitherto unpublished group of drawings by Zuccari after Raphael’s paintings, led the Principe of the Roman Academy to understand in-depth the spirit and the style of his ideal master.
