Un album di disegni inediti attribuiti a Hokusai nel Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe degli Uffizi
The unpublished and unsigned drawings attributed to Hokusai in the Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, as well as occupying an important place in Italy as an example of Japanese art, present new elements in respect of Hokusai’s drawings published up until now. The album is interesting not only for the high technical standard of the drawings, but also and above all for the unusual presence of numerous indications regarding the colours to be used in six of these drawings. These indications in the album are very similar to the instructions of the Ehon Saishiki-tsu, Hokusai’s famous manual on painting, and this fact undoubtedly proves that they had bemn carried out in the area of Hokusai’s school. But as the origin of these drawings is not entirely clear, they present the problem of to whom they should be attributed: Hokusai or one of his pupils? Examining each drawing, the author has tried to offer to her readers the elements that could help to solve this problem.
